Here are the most commonly asked questions someone has when booking a session with Jacki Dyrholm Photography.
WHAT IS A PRE-SESSION CONSULTATION?
Your pre-session consultation is just a casual conversation held over the phone where we will talk about your session expectations, possible locations, and address any additional questions or concerns that you may have.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY SESSION?
Sessions typically book a few weeks in advance, so I encourage you to reserve your session date as soon as possible. If your pet needs a session urgently due to a terminal illness, I suggest booking a Rainbow Bridge Session as these sessions are given priority over normal photography sessions.
HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL FOR SESSIONS?
All sessions take place within a 25 mile radius of Warrenton, Virginia. For locations outside that radius I charge a nominal fee.
WHERE CAN I HAVE MY SESSION?
Your session will take place wherever you and your dog feel most comfortable. This can be on-location somewhere you think is the perfect spot or in your own backyard! If you have no idea, don't worry! I can help you choose the perfect spot based on your preferences and where I feel would be the best place.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER TURNS OUT TO BE UGLY ON OUR SESSION DAY?
If we wake up on your session day to terrible weather conditions, I will reschedule your session at no additional cost! This includes rain, sleet, snow, wind, and excessive heat or cold.
HOW LONG DO SESSIONS TYPICALLY LAST?
Most sessions average about an hour, but I know some dogs require more time to warm up to me and the camera, and some dogs can can get overwhelmed quickly. It is my goal to always go at your dogs pace to ensure they are ultimately enjoying our time together.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH MORE THAN JUST DOGS (AND THEIR PEOPLE)?
While my specialty is dogs, if it has fur, feathers, or scales I am more than happy to photograph it! I love all animals and would look forward to working with you and your two- and four-legged friends!
CAN I STILL GET GREAT PHOTOS EVEN IF MY DOG IS NOT AN OBEDIENCE SUPERSTAR?
Of course! Some of the best portraits are of dogs just being dogs! While it is helpful to know basic commands - like sit, lay down - it is definitely not necessary. And for safety reasons, I prefer that dogs are leashed during a photo session, which I remove during post-processing.
WHY DO I HAVE TO SIGN A MODEL RELEASE?
By signing a model release, you are giving me permission to use your portraits for advertising or editorial use. It also means I might use your portraits for products, with your prior permission. If I use any of your portraits for products to sell in my online store, you will get your choice of either set number of free products or equivalent credit towards a future portrait session.
Of course, if you do not wish for your photos to be shared online anywhere I will honor your request.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO POSTPONE MY SESSION?
I get that things happen...you have to work late or get called into work, you get sick, your kid gets sick, your pet needs to go to the vet. I will gladly work with you to reschedule your session at no additional cost!
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL MY SESSION?
You may cancel your session with me at any time, but please remember that your non-refundable deposit will not be refunded unless you had to cancel for extraordinary circumstances.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I accept cash, personal checks, and Paypal. However, your non-refundable session deposit must be paid via Paypal upon booking.
